The INDEST consortium subscribes to the following resources. These resources are being made available to various institutions as per the recommendation of the expert group. All electronic resources are made available from the publisher’s Web site.

The ACM Digital Library incorporates digital versions of works published by ACM since its inception. The major components of the resource is an enhanced version of the ACM Digital Library plus an extended bibliographic database, consisting of more than a quarter-million citations of core works in computing. The ACM Digital Library hosts over 103,000 full-text articles from ACM journals, magazines, and conference proceedings and half million bibliographic Records with about 2,50,000 links to full bibliographic information and 70,000 further links to full text resources.

J-Gate Custom Content for Consortia (JCCC)

The J-Gate Custom Content for Consortium (JCCC) is a virtual library of journal literature created as customized e-journals access gateway and database solution for the INDEST consortium. It acts as one-point access to 4,000+ subscribed currently by all the IITs and IISc and available online. The service offers the following facilities and benefits to users.


Table of Contents Browsing: Users can select journals of their choice by searching by journal title words and/or subject categories and browse the table of contents for the latest is sues of the journals.


Database Searching: JCCC@INDEST acts a comprehensive database of journal articles published in the journals subscribed by all IITs and IISc (about 4,000). The articles are indexed with subject keywords and are searchable by – Author, Title words, abstract words, subject keywords, Institutional name or city to which the author belongs to.


MyTOC: Users can select journals of their choice and create their own alert profiles. JCCC@INDEST sends e-mail notice to the users, every week and as and when their favorite journals are published, to facilitate browsing TOC of the latest issues.

Full-text Online: J-Gate provides link to full-text for online journals of the publishers for which the INDEST consortium has obtained online rights for accessing or the individual library has separately obtained online access rights for journals.

Resource Sharing: This is the unique benefit of JCCC@INDEST. When a user finds an article of his interest, he can get it online if the INDEST consortium or his library has online rights of access to the corresponding journal. This facility offers the following benefits:

If the journal is not subscribed by user’s library (say NIT, Surthkal) and is subscribe by another library (say IISc, Bangalore), an automated photocopy request goes to the library where the journal is available which is designated for supplying the article to the user. In this case, IISc, Bangalore sends a copy of the article to NIT, Surthkal.

Through JCCC, all NIT, RECs, ISM, SLIET, NERIST and IIITs can have access to the journals subscribed by all the IITs and IISc.

Subscribed E-Resources can be access within the Institute Premises through their IP ranges of the respective College, Provided by KLN Information support groups

An Out look of ISO Standard Library In INDIA "Indian Institute of Technology". Madras



History: The Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IITM) was esInaugaration of First Phase of Millennium Library Buildingtablished in 1959 by the Government of India as an Institute of National Importance. Recently, IIT Madras has celebrated 45th Institute day on 15-04-2004.The Central Library also started functioning from the year 1959 from the Department of Civil Engineering, in 1965 the Central Library shifted to Independent Building infront of Institute Main Guest House. In view of latest development and future needs, the Institute decided to build Millennium Library Building with state-of-the-art facilities infont of Administrative Building. The first phase of Millennium Library Building was inaugurated by then Director Prof. R. Natarajan on 07th July 2000 and the Second Phase of Millennium Library Building was inaugurated by our present Director, Prof. M.S.Ananth on 07th January 2004. Digital Knowledge Center - a unique facility with 101 computer systems facilitating access to large number of e-resources on Level-II of the Central Library was also inaugurated by our present Director Prof. M.S.Ananth on 30-06-2004. Recently Prof. M.S. Ananth, Director, inaugrated Children's Library Corner on 10-10-2005. The Central LIbrary has also implemented Integrated RFID Technology, Smart Card, ISO-9001:2000 Standards, Contactless Smart Card Enabled Access Control System, Virtual Reference Desk, Electronic Book Drop System, Auto Check in and Check out Systems, Z39.50, Web Portal, Research Carrels, Media Resource Center with 200 seating capacity, Students Discussion Hall, Automatic Bindery and world-class facilities, services, multi format resources.

Welcome to Anna University Library

Library The University Library, which has been established in the year 1978 gained autonomy from December 2000. It is housed in a three storeyed new Building located at the eastern side in the main campus. The total area of the Library building is about 4122 sq.m. 30 video cameras are placed at strategic points in the library for surveillance. The MIT campus also has a library of area 1256 sq.m. Around 10,157 registered uses are in access of the library. Many knowledge-based services like that of Reference, Bibliography, MALIBNET service., DELNET, Reprography, CD-ROM Databases, Internet browsing and e-services are provided by the library for its users.
